It is a celebration of the cultural beauty of Kutch, with music, dance, and a fair of handicrafts on the display for guests.  If the deadly cold, wintery nights in the city, the Rann Utsav is a unique getaway that will teach you so much about the way of life of the residents and the culture in Kutch. Winters might be terrible and tiresome for some, but they are also a fantastic excuse to visit the Kutch desert during the most fascinating months of the year in India. This festival takes place when the moon is at its fullest and the air is fresh.  Amidst covid restrictions Rann Utsav 2022, the current tentative dates for the Kutch Rann Utsav 2021-22 are November 12th, 2021 to February 28th, 2022.

The expanse of the celebrations is grander than one can think. It begins in Bhuj, and the entire district is the brightest during the months of the cultural fiesta. The festival’s conclusion is at Rann Utsav tent city. It features over 400 AC and non-AC tents located in Dhordo, directly accessible from the Bhuj Airport. These tents are decorative and beautiful with every aspect of them, representing the magnificent culture. 

Covid Restrictions In Rann Utsav 2021-2022

Here are the covid restrictions Rann Utsav 2022 is taking to ensure that tourists are safe. 

  • Every day, the Bhuj Reception Center has a cleansing process. High-touch locations such as door handles, reception counters, pen holders, and furniture, among others, must be clean on a regular basis with a WHO-approved disinfectant solution.
  • Before entering the lounge, each guest is subject to a thermal screening. If the temperature falls outside of the usual range, visitors are to the nearest hospital for testing.
  • The guests should download the Aarogya Setu app. At the main entrance, there will be an obligatory checkup. The location and Bluetooth should be turned on at all times.
  • The sterilization of luggage that the visitors bring will be complete. The connected bathroom in the lounge will be cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis.
  • The merchants will maintain distance while following the safety standards. Before being placed in the exhibit, all materials, goods, and things will be thoroughly cleaned.
  • Unnecessary product/material touching shall be prohibited.
  • In the Haat region, there will be a proper marking of social distancing for the visitors.
  • Online purchases will be encouraged since they require less physical contact.
  • The visitors and workers are in a separate quarantine facility with more than 50 beds if needed.

The festival Pre-Covid vs Post-Covid

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, tourist numbers in the Rann Utsav in Gujarat’s Kutch area dropped by more than half in 2020. In a written response to a query, Tourism Minister Jawahar Chavda revealed that 2,06,056 visitors attended “Rann Utsav” in 2020, compared to 4,38,125 in 2019. The minister also stated that just 20 international visitors attended the festival in 2020, compared to 4,457 in 2019.
