Although you may know what you want to do for the summer of 2022, finding the where is quite the task. May we suggest bringing out the beach baby in you and splashing away the heat? Sounds like a solid plan! But there is always a catch. The beaches and Islands of India are always crowded and you can find it difficult to sunbathe in peace. Discover the lesser commercialized and hidden gems of the island world in India.

Here is a list of unexplored islands in India for your less crowded peaceful waterfront vacation:

1. Hope Islands, Andhra Pradesh:

Situated on the Bay of Bengal this 200-year-old tadpole-shaped island is a hidden gem in Andhra Pradesh. A fun fact- it is also said to be the safest harbor in all of Eastern India. The Kakinada coast is the closest point from where you can get a ferry to Hope islands. This island acts as a natural barrier and protects the Kakinada coast from the storms of the Bay of Bengal. Interesting right? If you are hoping to find any marine species, let us tell you the hope islands are also home to The endangered Olive Ridley Turtles.  You can also spot the Indian Navy casually sometimes as this island is used by the navy for beaching practice.

2. Kavvayi Islands, Kerala:

We all love the backwaters of Kerala a little too much and this island is the best when it comes to it. The Largest Backwater of North Kerala this island is also one of the most documented in history by famous travelers who came across it during their voyage. A popular but not so populated island, it is definitely on our bucket list of unexplored islands to visit.

3. Majuli Islands, Assam:

Surprisingly the most talked about yet the least explored island, the Majuli island certainly walks the talk. One of the largest river islands in the world (yes we said in the world), the Majuli islands have a lot to offer when it comes to the tribes of the island and the experience they offer. Sunsets are a key attraction because the sun reflects beautifully on the waters surrounding the island. The island is not at its best currently but we would recommend visiting once before it gets too late.

4. St. Mary’s Island, Karnataka:

She sells seashells on the seashore but you won’t have to buy any since you can collect so many! The St Mary’s island is at a close distance from the Malpe Coast in Udupi and has seashells of all colours, shapes, and sizes. If not for us, Vasco Da Gama would surely want you to. Why him? Because it is believed that Vasco Da Gama set foot in India for the first time at St. Mary’s Island. The island also has a unique appearance of a Hexagon which is formed by 4 small islands combined.

5. Diu Island, Daman and Diu:

With all the hype Goa gets, Daman and Diu often are not appreciated and visited as much as they deserve. With almost very isolated beaches and the peaceful breezy nature of the setting here, you will fall in love with the natural untouched beauty of the beaches of Diu. Also, this might be your new favourite over Goa.
