Andaman and Nicobar
“Sun & Sand by the beaches complemented by tasty dishes is all that a happy traveler ever needs.”

India is an unexplored beauty. We say so because there are numerous breathtaking spots in the country that are untalked and uncelebrated. India as a nation is an evolving center of tourism that has a very long way to go. Soothing sights wrapped in fine culture and tradition is one of the major reasons India rules the world with a bang.

One such major spot is Andaman and Nicobar. The land of true natural beauty is impressively studded with beautiful far spread beaches, impeccable islands, distinctive species, super amazing foods, adventurous sports, and many more.

One of our dear travelers recently had an opportunity to visit this heavenly spot with his cousin for good long 10 days. He had the best time exploring the lesser talked beauty of the place.

Manudev is a government official who holds a keen interest in exploring the unexplored aspects of nature. And so he set out on a journey to explore the Andaman and Nicobar; situated by the beautiful Bay of Bengal.

The Journey Begins – The Magical Wandoor

The journey began from Delhi by an Air India flight. The three explorers reached Port Blair and headed to Wandoor beach, placed at a decent distance from Port Blair. The spot was calm and scenic, away from the main hustle of the city.

They stayed there for 3 nights in Airbnb and explored the sightful scenes with great interest and enthusiasm. Scrumptious food, beautiful scenic views, engaging local markets, and whatnot, made Wandoor beach stand one of the most preferred spots when exploring Andaman.

Manudev also explored the enthralling beauty of Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Marine National Park. It truly is a delightful spot located between an extraordinary spread of flora & fauna. There are many boats if you are interested in boating.

On successfully exploring Wandoor beach, they then set out to explore another nature-rich beauty, Havelock. It feels like a part of heaven has been dropped on the earth. It has a sparkling spread of water bodies, mountains where one can be part of some truly breathtaking activities like Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Glass bottom boats, and more.

He explored the Havelock for another 3 days. He made sure to make the best out of it. Later he planned to mark a visit to another celebrated spot in Andaman i.e. Mount Harriet National Park. It is the highest peak in Port Blair that for once used to be a “ME” time spot for Britishers, especially during summertime.

Mount Harriet

As Andaman is a cluster of multiple islands, to travel from one spot to another you need to commute through ferries. Manudev took a ferry from Port Blair and reached Mount Harriet within 15 to 20 minutes. Upon reaching, they enquired at the forest guest house for a stay, which usually remains open for the locals.

The trek to the spot took nearly 4 hours and about the same to reach back to the forest guest house. On successful exploring Mount Harriet, they made a return booking at the forest guest house and stayed there for a day.

The other day they explored nearby areas and stayed somewhere around, seeking the best shelter they could. Not to mention, the internet access here was a big struggle. Manudev was majorly involved in searching for spots that could help them plan further.

Hunting for accommodation – Port Blair

They stopped by several restaurants and made their further plans enjoying the delicious local slurps. After making a 2 day stay at and around Mount Harriet National park, they set out to reach back to Port Blair. They had no prior bookings made so they had to drop down to several accommodating spots to find if they could help them shelter for some days.

Towards the end

After enough struggle, they finally managed to win a spot and spend 2 exotic days around Port Blair exploring its details with great interest & desire. So this is how they explored the beauty of Andaman & Nicobar on their 10-day trip that seemed like a perfect backpack plan.

Manudev describes Andaman as a sound and safe space to witness the magical bliss of nature. The spot is although less explored but studded with all the worthy details. However, if you are a first-time visitor to Andaman and Nicobar, Manudev advises having a companion along, as the poor internet access and overbooked accommodations can sometimes cause unpredictable situations.
