Bhakti Jadhav, an engineer by profession and travel enthusiast at heart, loves exploring uncharted territories. She went to Gujarat for a quick 3 day trip for recreational purposes in Dec- Jan 2019. Yes! If you’re wondering, this is the time when Gujarat celebrates the Rann Utsav! A magnificent gala where culture, food, craft, and history collide.

Bhakti lives in Pune and took a train from there till Bhuj and then rented a cab (Rent- INR 5000 approx.) for 3 days which also took her and her 2 other friends to Bhuj.

They booked a local stay at Hodka, a nearby village from Bhuj, which cost them INR 4000 (for 2 days) for all 3 of them, which also included food. After taking a good amount of rest, the trio headed out to explore the town. Being the first day of the trip they dedicated themselves to touring the southern region of Gujarat. They visited the famous Mandvi Beach, Vijay Vilas Palace, and other tourist places.

However, the second day was reserved for the Rann Utsav and exploring the Rann of Kutch and the White desert. Starting the trip early in the morning, they reached right in time to witness the mesmerizing sunrise against the sheer white sand of the desert. There was a little downpour during their visit, so the Rann Utsav wasn’t as much happening as it usually is. Nonetheless, they didn’t go disappointed. The festivities started to begin as soon as the land became dry.

The impeccable artistry, unmatchable art and craft, infinite colors, scrumptious cuisine from all over India, and immeasurable laughter and joy are just the way to have an unforgettable evening. While making their way through the carnival, they also took a souvenir with them to commemorate the eventful experience. Later that night they stayed to view the full moon. And not to mention, the occurrence of it was as magical as they say. The gleaming of moonlight against the perpetual white landscape of the night desert, which lingers till the horizon, is enchanting beyond words.

Day 3

On the third and the last day, they again explored the nearby tourist places, in and around Bhuj.

While waiting for their train on their return journey, the driver told them it was not safe to wait at the railway station. So they booked a nearby local hotel for INR 1500 for the night. So dear travelers make sure to book your tickets accordingly. She also says to pre-book your travel as much as you can, to have a smooth journey.

On the spot booking charges are costly. The local transport or transport, in general, is fairly expensive and tough to find, so renting a cab is a better option. And having enough cash on you is always a must, coz don’t forget you’re still traveling in and around the village, so you might not get an internet connection everywhere you go.
