Shikhi is an Architect who is currently making hand-painted home decor products for her art page- @artsy.shikhi. On a Friday night, she and her friends made an impromptu plan to spend the week at a hostel in Goa. They took a 12-hour road trip from Bangalore to Goa and made a pit stop for a finger-licking Butter-Dosa breakfast at the famous Davangere.
On their way, they visited an awe-mazing spot: Harvalem Waterfalls. Even in the month of January, it was a scenic place that gave a refreshing start to their journey in Goa. Their stay was mapped out at the hostel- Red Monkeys Hostel [Cost per night: INR 1,500 for private rooms and INR 400 for dorms].
Sea la vie!
The next day, their relaxing trip took an adventurous turn. Fort Tiracol, was where they headed on the morning to enjoy a hill-top view of the Arabian Sea. After spending a while to admire the charming courtyard of this fortress that once belong to a Portugese clan, they headed to their escaped.
Arambol in the north of Goa, is a traditional fishermens village, that is said to have a sweet water lagoon beach. The locals and tourists have an amazing time bonding with each other and bringing about a cheerful Goan vibe. Shikhi and her friends steered along the mountainous area of the beach for a trek.
They trekked for about half an hour on a route that led to Querim beach. The sandy coastline is one of the longest northern beaches in Goa. In the white sand, all they could hear were the waves crashing the shore. To end the day with a feeling of serenity, they dipped into the water before trekking back. Also, the weekend game night sessions at the hostel were a surreal experience for them to interact with like minds.

The Dinner Squad
Along with her friends, they visited beaches at night and explored the local restaurants for some authentic cuisines. They found the perfect hippie nightlife at the Anjuna beach where they dinned near Sunset Beach Shack. And unlike the previous day, they visited Morjim beach for some savory Italian dishes at Pinacola Roma. Finally, continuing the tradition of dinner squad, they explored a food truck wrap at Heera’s Tasty Bites. And called it a night after having quality time with their hosts and the Amancio Bar. Shikhi had a homely feel while staying with their hosts who prepared a barbeque to make her last night at Goa a memorable one.
While their road trip to Bangalore they seized the opportunity to add one more site to their itinerary which was the Tillar valley. The green valley is quite an unexplored spot that brought a tranquil view of the forest below. Heading back home with a bundle of souvenirs and memories, Shikhi felt beholden to her stay at Goa.
