Palak Khandelwal, a keen traveller from Nagpur, Maharashtra set out to explore the lands of God and witnessed some noteworthy experiences that to cherish forever. She began her trip to Himachal Pradesh, via Delhi. She travelled to Delhi by train and then followed to Himachal by Bus after a quick stay in Delhi itself.

The bus left her at Dharamshala. It usually drops you at Dharamshala, says Palak. She then went to Mcleodganj where she stayed at the Hosteller Mcleodganj Max. For the first day, she rested in her room and then hung around to see what places she could explore. She walked down the town and got a decent glimpse of it.

Later she visited the Dalai Lama temple, which was incredibly surreal and picturesque. After the temple, she headed towards exploring the Bhagsu Falls, which was another delightful addition to her experience. Shiva’s cafe, a popular one in Mcleodganj was later visited by her too. After exploring for the day she returned to the Hosteller and had her time of interest.

The next day was followed by visiting a nearby church that was placed in the middle of the jungle. She visited around 2 in the afternoon after binding up her office tasks. Later she had her lunch and then set out to capture the Naddi village sunset. She took an auto to reach the spot as walking would make her miss the view.

The third day was the adventurous one filled with cloudy and gloomy weather that perfectly complemented the trip. The ropeway at Dharamshala was on the list to be explored. Due to the weather condition, they had to wait for a little but once it was clear they had their best experience roping to their destination.

After experiencing the enthralling ride they were now fueled to explore the best of Dharamshala. There were ample taxis available so they bargained and convinced one of the taxi drivers to help them tour all the major spots at INR 1,500/-. Which was a decent offer. They then strolled to several places like the Tea garden which had a variety of flavoured iced tea that looked captivating.

The next stop was the stadium. It charges INR 30/- for the entry (access to only one part of the stadium). The group shared some photos and lived the visual. Later they headed to explore the Norling Monastery. One must at least spend an hour or more here, says Palak. The doll museum here was a great sight for them to witness. Apart from these finesses; art galleries and handicrafts were also a part of their amusement.

The entire craftsmanship reflects the Tibetan culture and rich choices of colours that we rarely get to see. The monastery had its unique cafe that sold handicrafts as well.

Her next decided spot was Bir where she especially wanted to go for Paragliding. But it was temporarily closed so she decided to stay back. She then returned from Dharamshala and rested at Trek and Dine Cafe in Dharamkot. The cafe was spectacular. Lower settings, live music and the vibe added stars to her experiences.

Food, Fun & Friends

After spending some good time here she then returned to her hostel. The next day she had some office deadlines to meet. On post-completion, she headed along with her friends to again explore the church that was placed between the jungles.

Later it was followed by visiting Shiva’s cafe where she had her best time. Her friends got to know it was her birthday so they brought her cake with some guitar playing. It just felt surreal and overwhelming to her.

On her last day, she roamed a bit, exploring the local markets. She later also visited the Tibetan Flags Temples which had 300-400 flags. The temple was surrounded by long dense trees which made it appealing and vibrant. She lived and captured moments with the setting sun here. After so much wandering it was finally time for her to head back to the states.

She left Dharamshala and made a one-day halt in Delhi where she walked down random streets and travelled random buses, living the best of her adventures. Thereupon she headed back to Nagpur taking back millions of moments to share and cherish. When are you making moments like these?
