Having started the trip on Friday night from Delhi, they reached Jaipur early in the morning by 6 am. Checked in the hotel, ‘Clarks Inn’, and took some rest. After some freshening up and a good breakfast, they went to visit Jal Mahal. Built in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, it is very famous for its sophisticated architecture. Later they went to the Sun temple and then to Hawa Mahal. Along with its rich history, Hawa Mahal is much appreciated for its build; which has 953 jharokhas, beautifully incorporated in the honeycomb design of the palace. It is also known as the ‘Palace of the winds’.

Moving on from Hawa Mahal, Trisha and her friends went on to visit Galta Ji Temple. They had lunch in the local market and then directly headed towards Albert Museum Hall. It is one of the oldest museums of the state and currently functions as the State Museum of Rajasthan. It holds a large collection of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The next and last stop on the list was Jantar Mantar. It is not only a UNESCO Heritage site, but it also features the world’s largest stone sundial. This is the place to be if you love astronomy!

Day 2

Starting the day early, they left their hotel and went to visit The Birla Mandir. Built by the Birla Foundation it is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu, among other deities. Later they went for breakfast, which was again at the local market. Do note that the local cuisine in Jaipur is quite famous and definitely exceeds its reputation. It is a must-try if you are visiting the city.

The trip to Jaipur is quite incomplete if you haven’t seen its lovely forts. Trisha and her friends went out to see Amer Fort. Located on top of the hill, it is yet another architectural wonder. It overlooks the bluer than blue Maota Lake. It attracts thousands of tourists all year round.  Having spent some time appreciating its beauty they moved towards Nahargarh Fort. The fort was originally built as a retreat place for the royals of the time. It has phenomenal extended walls which connect to the Jaigarh Fort. They then had lunch and left for Delhi. Taking some beautiful memories with her, Trisha was overjoyed to have spent a wonderful time among the living forts and palaces!

Trisha recommends planning the trip around September to November. That is the best time to enjoy the place. Also, it is a very hospitable city and solo travelers shouldn’t have any difficulty commuting.
