Dudhsagar Falls

Dudhsagar Waterfalls; also known as the sea of milk, is one of the tallest waterfalls in India with a height of 320 meters. It extends from the Mandovi River in the state of Goa. Its majestic white-looking water is what gives it its second name, the ‘sea of milk’. In addition, thick deciduous forests encircle the region and allow rich biodiversity to flourish. However, this waterfall has a second name, Tambdi Surla, very common among the locals. The falls are not especially staggering during the dry season but rather during the rainstorm season, they are fed by enormous amounts of rain and become an impressive scenic view as it is.

Jog falls also called Joga falls or Gerusoppa Falls is the second-highest waterfall in India with a height of 253 meters. It is located on the Sharavathi River of Shivamogga District in Karnataka. It attracts thousands of tourists every year, however, what differentiates it from other waterfalls is it is free-falling waterfalls, which means the water drops directly without streaming onto the rocks. The best time to visit this is between August to December. It is also a source of India’s largest hydroelectric stations.

Kunchikal Falls

Kunchikal Falls is the highest waterfall in India with a height of 455 meters. Another name for it is Kunchikal Abbe and is located in the lining area of Udupi-Shimoga in Karnataka. Formed by the Varahi River, this waterfall is located in a restricted place and visitors require a gate pass to go and visit. You can easily get these passes from a nearby village of Hosangadi. This waterfall is a spectacle in the month of the monsoon.

Shivanasamudra Falls

98 meters high Shivanasamudra Falls is located in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. It is located along the river Kaveri, which splits the stream into two different waterfalls. The western branch is known as Gaganachukki, whereas the eastern branch is known as the Bharachukki falls. The Shivanasamudra watchtower is the best location to view The Gaganachukki waterfall. Many pictures available online are from this tower. It is a wonderland for nature lovers and photographers.

Athirapally Falls

Athirapally Falls is situated in the Thrissur District, Kerala. As a matter of fact, it is 80 feet tall, making it one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala. It is birthed from the 145 kilometers long Chalakudy River which is surrounded by dense forest. Which is home to many rare and endangered animal species. It has humongous water flow from June till August. You will also remember this waterfall from the movies Guru and Bhaubali. Some of the songs of these movies were shot here. 

The waterfalls make for an extraordinary view.
