Udaipur

They landed in Udaipur, and their stay for the week was booked at the Hotel Janak Villas. The elegant architecture of the hotel was a pleasant welcome into the mesmerizing art of Rajasthan. After settling down, they went out for a street stroll in the local markets. Mirchi Pakode and Pyaaz Kachaudi were just an appetizer to the amazing food trail of their stay ahead.

A night with a view of the Rang Sagar lake, they had dinner at the Khamma Ghani restaurant. The Arabic-themed restaurant with the moon’s reflection in the lake made for the perfect cocktail night. On their way back to the hotel, what they didn’t know was an encounter with a famous auto driver, who apparently has thousands of followers on YouTube. The blue-lit auto with groovy songs along the journey was how their first day at Udaipur ended.

So Much To See

The next morning in the city of lakes, they went took a ferry ride in Lake Pichola. For a discounted price, Anshika suggests going before 3 pm. When it comes to relishing a royal feel, there’s nothing better than a tour of Udaipur’s grand palaces. So they covered exploring the floating Lake Palace, Maharaja Udai Singh’s City Palace, the infamous YJHD Oberoi Palace, and finally the exquisite Leela Palace.

Amongst the tranquil waters, they had refreshing drinks at the Picholi Bar. In the cozy weather, they clicked photos till evening and returned to the mainland at 8 pm. And to fulfill some already forgotten wishes, they headed to Karni Mata Mandir. On the ropeway trolley, the whole city lights reflected onto its lakes. After prayers and promises, they headed to Rajwada Bites for the famous laal maas and a Rajasthani Thali. They had an in-house artist performing Ghoomar which was fascinating to see.

A Cultural Delight

Day 3 was all about diving into the culture of Rajasthan. The dance, music, and art performances by the folk artists of Sangeet Parishad. The exhibition had Ghoomar, Kalbelia, and the folk songs like Kesaria Balam, Bartan Balancing, along with puppet shows. Travelling from distant villages, these performers made an earning only through such events, and hats off to such astonishing skills.

The three Sakhiyaans went to Sakhiyon ki Baadi. To uncover the scientific beauty of how water was extracted to the far away lakes of the city without electricity, they hired a guide. With a heap of informative stories and professional photography, ‘a guide is a must’ says Anshika.

Next destination- the Solar Laboratory to observe the sky and more. And in the evening, the company of chana zor garam and cotton candy with the Fateh Sagar lake made for a perfect stroll. Moreover, Anshika’s adventurous yet tiring day called for some wine and a warm jacuzzi to end the day.

The Bachelorette

On Sunday morning, they went to the Gangour Ghats. Alongside the windy weather, they gobbled pizzas and some amazing coffee at the Jheel cafe. A shopping spree broke at the Rajasthan Cooperation for famous organic sarees, rust-free antiques, as well as traditional jewellery. Walking across the small bridges, they made their way from Hathipole to Chaandpole. Lastly, the street food added the ideal desi tadka of kulfi and kachaudis to the day.

In the evening, girls headed to the Artist House for a raging Bachelorette party. As rightly said by Anshika ‘DJ, Drinks and Dope Dresses’ was all they needed to end their trip with a bash. On their last day, after a complimentary breakfast at the Good Boutique hotel, they departed from Udaipur.

Estimated Budget: INR 30,000- 35,000 per person.
