Farmers and ethnic groups from nearby villages all gather here and mingle in trade. The farmers sell local produce while others sell everything ranging from traditional souvenirs and apparel to the latest electronic gadgets. The plaza is strategically located close to the hotels for an easy commute. You can shop for interesting artefacts, fresh organic produce, traditional foodstuff, the local style, gifting items, regular commodities and so much more. Moreover, the vibrant colours around the place will have you mesmerized. Shopping in Sikkim is incomplete without a visit to Lal Bazar.

Directorate of Handicrafts & Handlooms (DHH)

DHH is Sikkim’s oldest handicrafts and handloom store. All the magnificent artwork by local artisans are displayed and sold here. It was made as a means of protecting, preserving and promoting the homegrown talent in Sikkim. The range of exquisite products available here will have you dumbfounded. You can pick from a range of handwoven carpets, linens and shawls with beautiful traditional motifs. The intricately carved wooden furniture is sure to turn heads. Old Market

Old Market is probably one of the liveliest places to go to when shopping in Sikkim. This marketplace is a hub for fashion and handicrafts. The hustle bustle and haggling customers keeps Old Market busy through the year. It is particularly known for its exquisite Dogra jewelry and artefacts. Additionally, you can find good quality Almonds and Walnuts here too. Just like in Lal Bazar, one must put on their bargaining hats while shopping in Old Market. If you can ace the bargaining game then you’ll be absolutely satisfied with your purchases here. A sure shot way to take home good quality items at the right prices.
