The Jal Mahal in Rajasthan is a famous tourist destination. This Mahal means Water palace, built in between the water and stands strong till date. It’s a 300-year-old architectural marvel. The palace was built for stay during hunting trips for ducks.

History

The Mahal was built by Maharaja Madho Singh, he didn’t intend it to be a palace for permanent residence but rather suggested it to be a stay during duck hunting trips. The palace stands in Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Mahal is built in the Rajput manner, with pink sandstone.
The palace was built in the year 1750 by Maharaja Madho Singh. Madho’s son II built the interior and exterior of the palace during the 18th century.

The Jal Mahal is located about 4 km away towards the north of Jaipur. It’s located on Amer Jaipur road. The entire trip takes about 30 minutes. There is auto, and bus services available for the Amer fort trip and the mahal trip.

The palace is reachable through bus, auto, and taxis. The nearest bus stop is the Shahpura bus stop around 200 m from Jal mahal. Car rental or tourist cabs are easy and convenient options to travel Jaipur city tour.

The Jal Mahal is open all seven days a week. And the timings are from 6 Am till 6 Pm.

The palace is low in height not too high, it has four dome-shaped pillars and one huge one in the center. It is now one of the landmarks of Jaipur. The Mahal is nowadays a huge tourist attraction and converted into a restaurant and tourist spot.
