Shreshtha Malhotra is a Photographer & Filmmaker who wonders about the ordinary life around him with a vision of an extraordinary mind. He recently visited the surreal beauty of Uttarakhand to trek and surely gathered some noteworthy moments to share and cherish.

The trip was a 7-day trip that had some intense travelling and exciting walks to some profound places like Sankri & Kedarkantha. So let’s get into its details and find out how exciting the trip got with each passing day.

Delhi to Dehradun

The journey began from Delhi to Dehradun by bus. The overall cost incurred for the fare was about INR 500/- to INR 700/-. After Shreshtha reached Dehradun he opted for a shared cab that helped him reach the ultimate trek point Sankri Village. On reaching he took shelter at a local’s residence, who with time came out to be the most loving and generous people. The person who got Shreshtha home for the stay was a local guide by profession.

Shreshtha stayed there for a night preparing for the next day’s trek. He was offered food at the residence he halted but he chose to dine out at a nearby outlet.

All set to trek – (Sankri – Juda ka Talab)

The next day he was all ready to go trekking to his favourite points. He set out to trek at 9 in the morning from Sankri to find his way through long and lush forests. Shreshtha travelled solo and after hours of trekking finally reached the campsite, Juda ka Talab around 4 in the evening. He carried all his trek material himself and on reaching the site he immediately began to set up the necessary elements. From setting up the tent to preparing his meal he had it all sorted. The next day the trip had to go on. So, Shreshtha went to sleep feeling excited.

All set to trek – (Juda ka Talab – Kedarkantha)

It was Day 3 and now Shreshtha was ready to continue his journey. He began his trekking again from Juda ka Talab to Kedarkantha base camp. He made it to the point around evening and was left amazed at the surreal beauty he witnessed. Mother nature seemed to be at her best. The trek, by all means, proved to be successful and Shreshtha was more than delighted to be a part of the beauty that seemed beyond heaven.

After enough admiration of the mountainous beauty, Kedarkantha; then again followed the same old ritual of setting the tent and making the food. After his normal chores, he rested awhile and fueled himself to continue the journey way back with the same energy & dedication.

Back to Sankri

It was day 4 and Shreshtha was all set to make his way from Kedarkantha to Juda ka Talab base camp. He set out on the journey and managed to reach the base camp somewhere around evening. Using his survival pieces of equipment he stayed there and the next day, set out to reach Sankri village.

He marked his reach to Sankri on day 5 and halted around a nearby cafe. The location suffered some network issues and the cafe was the only spot that had wifi share. So undoubtedly, the cafe was a spot to stop by. The next day, i.e. day 6; Shreshtha took a shared cab from Sankri to Dehradun. He reached Dehradun around 8 in the evening from where he took a bus direct to Delhi, waving bye to the most alive & appealing destination in India.

Shreshtha during his journey registered a lot of new learnings and memories that he forever is going to be thankful for. He personally feels travelling to Uttarakhand is quite safe, sound and immensely adventurous. Especially, if solo travellers are looking for a treat location, COME TO UTTARAKHAND.

The people here are quite helpful and kind, thus there’s nothing to worry about. The only thing that kept our traveller in a busy and worrisome mind was the network connection. It slightly seemed to be not that impressive. Other than that the trip was full of life.

So, if you’re wanting to witness similar magical moments or even better, then all you need to do is JUST BACKPACK. Set your soul free and see which magical wonderlands it takes you to. Hoping to share your beautiful story NEXT!
