The Chenab bridge (currently in the making) would be the tallest rail route in the world. The best time to visit this snowy heaven on earth would be during the winters of Kashmir when you can witness the magic of snow-white blankets of frosty dense snow.

2. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (New Jalpaiguri- Darjeeling):

This very popular ‘Toy Train’ is a people’s favorite. Spread about 88kms, this rail route is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you love the beauty of vintage old-world steam engines, you should certainly hop on this train. The Toy Train also has an alternative of Diesel engines and locomotives. While the diesel tickets cost you 800 Rs per person the steam engines would cost 1200 Rs per person. 3. Nilgiri Mountain Railway (Mettupalayam- Ooty):

 An Extension to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, the Nilgiri rail route was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ever since 2005, it is collectively known as the Mountain Railways of India. The picturesque backdrop of the stunning Nilgiri Mountain Ranges and lush green forests make the rail route a must-visit.
